De Bruid van Zuylen
October 2010
De Bruid van Zuylen (‘The Bride of Zuylen’) was an interactive theatre show for families with children between 6 and 12 years, commissioned by the castle museum Slot Zuylen. With a group of fourteen students from the University of Arts Utrecht, we had seven weeks to create a successful production, which was performed in and around Slot Zuylen on October 16 and 17, 2010.
During the show, the children were accompanied by two butlers who showed them around the castle and told them about what was happening: the baron was about to get married, but strange things were happening... Paintings and tapestries came to life in an exciting adventure, in which the children discovered that the bride was actually a wicked sorceress who had bewitched the baron and locked up his true love. Of course everything turned out well in a festive finale. Meanwhile, the parents were given a look behind the scenes and even played a role in the story that the children experienced.
